Chandigarh may be the first “Smart City” in India as dreamt by our Prime Minister Sh. Narender Modi

Chandigarh 19th Aug, 2014: Chandigarh may be the first “Smart City” in India as dreamt by our Prime Minister Sh. Narender Modi as Chandigarh is a modern city which has already many components of being smart city. Honble Energy Minister Mr Piyush Goyal assured the local unit all help to make Chandigarh first smart city of India. He also encouraged all the members of BJP to shoulder responsible of Indian Govt of deliver goods to the common man.

Sh. Piyush Goyal was welcomed by State President Sh. Sanjay Tandon and Member Parliament Smt. Kirron Kher at his arrival at ‘Kamlam’ BJP Headquarter at Chandigarh. While talking about the efficiency and prompt action of Sh. Piyush Goyal, State President Sh. Sanjay Tandon said that during his recent visit to Baramula alongwith Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh.Narendra Modi in Jammu & Kashmir, Sh. Goyal met some children who have to go to far away place for their studies after matriculation. When Sh. Goyal came to know about this, he immediately contacted Union HRD Minister Smt. Smriti Irani and discussed the matter and requested to start a school immediately upto 10+2 level. The school was started within two hours and was announced by Sh. Narendra Modi in the said public meeting. Sh. Tandon said that Sh. Piyush Goyal is a person who is always ready to help the party activists as well as general public.

Smt. Kirron Kher while addressing the party activists said that she will try her best to solve the long-pending issues of residents of Chandigarh. Sh. Piyush Goyal thanked Sh. Sanjay Tandon, Smt. Kirron Kher and all the office bearers and party activists for the warm welcome given to him. He said that he is having affection with the city as he is a usual visitor to city and want to see City Beautiful as the first
‘Smart City’ of country.

He further said that the Modi Government want the involvement of general public in the governance and want to provide a transparent government. He also appealed all the party activists to raise the issues of public concern with the concerned ministers and also give valuable suggestions for better governance.

TRAI ORANISED CONDUMER OUTREACH PROGRAMME
 
1 Chandigarh: 9 August: Telecome regulatory authority of India organized Consumer Outreach Programme in the conference hall of Indo Tibet Border Police (ITBP) Behlna Camp Seemanagar, to create awareness about the rights and duties of the consumers. Which was attended by the Senior Officer of the TRAI, Govt. representatives, telecome service providers, consumer advocacy group and consumers. The programme was presided by Sh. Rajesh Sharma Commandant of the ITBP. 
 
Speaking on the occasion Sh. Sharma said that it was a great problem for the Army Personals to get in touch with their family members from at their homes. But now it has become easy with the introduction of mobile phones.
 
Sh. S.K. Gupta Principal Advisor and A. Robert Ravi Advisor of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India explained about the rights and previligious of the Telecome Consumer in their presentation, TRAI regulations with regard to mobile number portability (MNP) unsolicited commercial calls (UCC) value added services (VAS) roaming charges were highlighted. They also advised that in case of any complaint consumer can register his complaint at the at the call centre of the service providers and in case consumer is not satisfied with the redressal of his complaint he can approach an appellate authority.  
 
Later on an open session for the consumer redressal complaint was held which includes frequent call drops, network and tower radiation problem. The officers of the TRAI directed the representative of the respective companies to take up mobile numbers of the complainants and address these issues.
 
1Sh. Surender Verma, Chairman of Citizens Group appreciated the role of Telecom Regulatory of India in organizing such consumers outreach programs. He said that his organization is one of the 42 consumer advocacy groups which have been registered with the TRAI since 2007 and organizing such consumer advocacy workshops to provide and effective regulatory frame work, adequate safeguards to ensure fair competition and protection of consumer interest.
 
Sh. G.P. Vishonai Senior Research officer TRAI said (we have conducted 128 such programmes till date). This year 30 programmes have been conducted and 100 programmes are in the pipeline to guide the consumers.
