New Delhi: 16th March Dignity India, a in collaboration with Citizens Awareness Group & Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS) observed world consumer rights day in recreation cum library center, Safdarjang Enclave New Delhi on 15th March 2015. This year WCRD theme is Healthy Diet. The program was started with Ganesh Vandada. Sh Som Datt Bharti MLA of the area was chief guest and Sh Anant Sharma President Consumer Confodation of India Presided over the event. The Program was attended by 100 consumers which included senior citizens, housewife’s, govt. employees, NGOs etc.
Sh Arun Kumar President Dignity India in his welcome address advised the consumer to fight for the rights and collect bills on every purchase so that if found defective we can take legal action by filing the case in consumer court.
Sh Desh Deepak Deputy Director General Bureau of Indian Standards(BIS) spoke about the standardization of goods. He informed the audience that they should purchase genuine items with BIS label.
Sh Ram Gopal Sharma Chief Editor Alokparv newspaper spoke about the rights as enshrined in the consumer protection act 1986. Smt Madhu Kaushal spoke about the Ill Effects of Tower radiation installed by the mobile companies near residential n educational area.
Sh Anant Sharma President Consumer Confodation of India said in today’s world the condition of consumer is not good and he is exploited by everyone in the market. So educating the consumers on various subjects and updating the statutory provisions of the constitutions is important. He advised the consumers to build a vigorous movement at national level.
Sh Som Datt Bharti MLA who was chief guest of the occasion complemented dignity India for such a campaign and offered his full personal as well as administrative support in such programs.
Sh Surrender Verma Chairman Citizens Awareness Group Chandigarh Proposed vote of thanks and said that they will continue to work with Dignity India in rural as well as urban areas of New Delhi and they will be in touch with the people of Delhi to solve their cases by taking with the concerned authority and if needed in the consumer court.
